My name is Joey Basta and beside me is an awesome woman of God, my wife Carmin. We are the founders of Street Knights Skate Ministry. Its our passion and mission to bring the message of repentance of sins and reconciliation to Jesus Christ to this young generation through their passion for skate boarding .
Right now our ministry is based in Florida. But we never know where the Lord may lead. Jeremiah 10:23 says -I know, Lord, that our lives are not our own. We are not able to plan our own course. (NLT)
The reason behind the name:
Our Lord has called me, Sir Joey (Knights placed Sir before their names) to be HIS KNIGHT on the STREETS.
On a 30 hour bus trip from Long Island NY to New Orleans Louisiana, February 2009 headed to Mardi Gras to an outreach, The Lord showed me the word “Knight” about 7-8 times, on buildings, trucks, etc. On the way back to NY, The Lord did the same thing about 4-5 times. When I got back to NY, The Lord showed me that word another 4-5 times. This time on a cab, in a magazine, and other places.
I prayed and asked the Lord what He was trying to tell me through this word “Knight” After some time, the Lord has placed it in my heart the He was calling me to be a modern day Knight. HIS KNIGHT, for HIS KINGDOM!
- A Knight is a royal servant to the king.
(I am a servant to the ONE and ONLY TRUE King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ!) - Knights were men of chivalry, courage, honor, dignity, courtesy and were nobleman and fought for the king, and undertook dangerous quests. ( I will fight the good fight for my KING until the END)
- Knights were also asked to protect the weak, the defenseless and the helpless.
So I took a vow to become that Knight HE called me to be. Knights receive intense training before they can become Knights. And in due time become and get dubbed a Knight. With the Lords help and HIS intense training and going through the FIRE, I look forward to becoming that KNIGHT that HE has called me to be.
I will share with you reports of sinners who Repent and come to Christ, war stories on the battlefield (the streets), the mistakes we make and the things we learn.
